Kanazawa is the largest city in Ishikawa Prefecture with a population of approximately 450,000. It was the second largest city (after Kyoto) to escape destruction from air raids during World War II. Kanazawa has a castle, and one of Japan's most famous landscape gardens: Kenrokuen.
