York is two hours north of London by train. Nearly 2000 years old, York was once the second largest and powerful city in England. The stone walls which surround the city, were built during medievil times. The Minster, as it appears today, is more than 500 years old.

York city centre stands on the river Ouse, and areas close to the river are frequently subjected to flooding.
